Interactive Content Syndication

Interactive Content Syndication (or “ICS”) isn’t just another pretty buzz phrase, it’s a new paradigm for content distribution on the web. Simply put, it’s a mechanism for content providers to display their content through third party websites while maintaining complete control over that content, and getting paid a syndication fee in the process.

Just like traditional newspaper syndication, ICS relies upon the pre-existing viewership or user base of a syndication partner's websites to give content providers access to a far larger audience for their content than they might otherwise achieve directly. Content syndication is a proven mechanism in traditional publishing and ICS opens up the world of content syndication for use on the internet.

Unlike other mechanisms of content syndication currently being used on the web, such as RSS, Interactive Content Syndication can be used to distribute extremely complex, deep and rich content. Instead of being limited to hyperlinks, blocks of text or simple media, ICS enables the syndication of complex interactive media such as graphically intensive games & animations, e-commerce systems and advanced productivity tools. Virtually anything that can be put on a website can be syndicated through ICS without sacrificing quality or direct control of content.

One of the best features of ICS is that it doesn’t require that complex code and layout revisions be made to third party websites who wish to syndicate content through Eye Traction. They simply add a link from their site to the content they have syndicated through Eye Traction and their visitors will instantly have access to that content.

The ICS process “skins” interactive content so that it appears to be a part of each syndication partner’s website. Users are then able to navigate back and forth between the syndication partner’s website and the syndicated content without ever apparently leaving the partner’s website. To the user the syndicated content is simply another part of the partner’s website. But because the syndicated content actually resides on an Eye Traction server, the content provider retains complete editorial and customer support control.

ICS is a win-win for both parties – the syndication partner gets the benefit of adding rich interactive content to their site, driving user loyalty, increasing visitor retention and visit times and improving the opportunity for driving desired user behavior; while the content provider gets paid for their content and gets access to new users and potential customers they would otherwise have to spend time and money developing for themselves.
